Sometimes someone as magnificant as Zeus can feel a bit run down and tired. Seriously!!
I know what you are thinking... He is perfect. How could he feel run down?? Well, sometimes even the best are beat up just a little bit. So, in order to get a quick pick me up, I have just taken a 5 hour energy. I was giving a sample last week. I figured I would give it a try. So here goes nothing...
11:00 am - I pulled out the 5 hour energy drink and just gulped it down. It tastes okay.
11:10 am - I am feeling more energetic. I addition to working, I decide to blog!!
11:22 am - I feel the caffine pumping through my veins. I am starting to contemplate doing some push ups in between drafting letters.
11:37 am - I just sent a settlement offer to developer's counsel. I concluded the email with "Fuck yeah!"
11:45 am - My left eye is slightly twitching. I am now lecturing my right eye for being lazy.
12:00 pm - This is typically lunch time. Instead, I am going to take some quiet time to focus on the breath.
12:01 pm - Screw the breath. Instead I decide to punch my wall for two minutes to burn off some energy.
12: 10 pm - I now have a great idea. I will start six blogs!!!!
12:21 pm - Jogged past one of the partners office. Yell "what up slacker."
12:35 pm - Have decided to buy a case of 5 hour energy from Costco!
1:00 pm - Just woke up from the apparent black out I had. Look around and notice that my office has been rearranged.
1:23 pm - Decided to rearrange my office two more times.
1:33 pm - Decided to invest $10,000 in 5 hour energy stock!!! !!! !!!!!!
1:45 pm - Decided to end blogging for the day and instead will go outside to fight crime.
1:46 pm - Frantically searching office for a cape.
1:47 pm - Decided to just take of shirt and put a giant black Z on my chest.
Zeus out!!

Banana Cream Pie
Moonbeam is BACK! Ok...after being gone for quite some time, I'm sure ALL my followers are eagerly waiting to hear what I have been up to. So let's see...
Post Disney and 10K, I went to AZ to see the fam and for a little race action. I had decided about 3 months ago I wouldn't be doing the full marathon. My heart just wasn't in it and I wanted to do more speedwork and not long-slow-joggalongs. The plan sounded good until I got to the expo and all of a sudden had a lump in my stomach, wishing I would have trained to run the full. The full marathon is considered by many the HARDEST marathon in the US, and I feel like it's soooo fun to be part of such an amazing thing. So, as I walked up to pick up my race number, I just felt like such a slacker. I think that feeling sank into my heart, leading me on race day to just not be too into it. Although fun, the race just didn't compare to the full. The altitude sucked and I felt like a basically half-assed it. So, I am trying to quickly delete that race experience from my head and move forward!!!!!
So onto a new and more important topic....Pistachio nuts!!! Ok, so Costco, ie Disneyland for old people, has these salt'n'pepper pistachios that are ridiculously addicting. They are heavenly. I don't really even like pistachios but for some reason, I can't seem to put these down!!! Mmmm....they are epic, you should get them!!!
I would also like to take a moment to comment on Zeus past TWO blogs...Although entertaining and interesting, am I the ONLY one noticing he is SLIGHTLY living in the past??? (hehe) I mean, what happened to him bragging about himself and how great he is??? Come on Zeus, you definitely need to up your blog effort! (Can you believe I am saying that???)
And to wrap up....a few random thoughts....
1. I have a student who has a 36% average on HW and an A ave on tests....how stupid is he?
2. I friend requested boob girl!!!
3. I can't believe you didn't make fun of me more about the granola???
4. Your show starts soon...you know, ICBVDAERH blah blah Dance?
5. I am craving banana cream pie!
Ok, Moonbeam is off to get some sun!

Vegas Taxi Driver
Since Moonbeam has still not posted a new blog, here is another old email I wrote to a friend a few years back....
Las Vegas. Everyone there expects to be tipped regardless of the quality of work they perform. I used to be a waiter, so I understood the importance of tips in a service industry. However, I also understood the amount of the tip was in direct relation to the quality of work. In other words, if you are bad at your job, you don't get tipped well.
Anyways....
I was leaving the Venetian Casino at 4:00 pm to get to my hotel (still needed to pick up my luggage) and then to the airport (flight left at 5:30 p.m.). So, I hop into the cab and say "Alexis Park, it is across the street from the Hard Rock."
"Yep, I know exactly where it is" replies the female driver. (I would like a female driver joke, but that is too easy.)
So I get in the cab, she turns on the meter and off we go. I notice she is going a slightly different route than the other taxi drivers have been going all weekend, but still the correct general direction. She then pulls up to... say it with me...
THE WRONG HOTEL. Nice.
"This is the wrong hotel," I say. "My hotel is across the street from the Hard Rock. This nowhere near the Hard Rock."
So we get back on the street and into a traffic jam. She pulls into the back parking lot of Hard Rock where traffic is stopped. The METER IS RUNNING and she says it should only take about 10 minutes to get through here (mind you "here" is a parking lot"). I am not happy. A 7 minute drive has now turned into a 30 minute ordeal because she went to the wrong location.
"Let me out here, I will walk the last half mile." I say.
The meter says $11.70. I give her a ten and a five and say "give me two back."
Mind you, this weekend every cab driver was routinely tipped two-three bucks for 10 minutes of work, and by "work," I mean driving me to the proper location. This driver says "how about something for your driver?"
My first response was to say "bite me." Nevertheless.
First off, "my driver"?? Seriously? It's not like I personally picked this woman to driver me around Vegas for a week. She is not "my driver."
Second, I HATE when people try to shame me into doing ANYTHING. Her intent was to make me feel like an ass and give her more money. So I responded, "tell you what, next time when you drive me to my
chosen destination, don't run up the fare by having us sit in a traffic jam in the wrong location AND I don't have to walk the final 1/2 mile to my hotel, I will give you a tip."
Maybe I should have just sucked it up and gave her a tip because obviously she needs it more than I do.

Why I Hate Guess
Okay, this is from an older email, I sent to a friend a long time ago. However, I thought it would make a good blog....
True story . . .
This past Friday I went to Guess at lunch to return a pair of shorts I had purchased on Monday. I never wore the shorts. Instead, I got home, realized I didn't like the fit and decided to return them.
So I go to Guess during my lunch break, with the shorts, tags, receipt and a smile. As I hand all three items to the cashier she says "Sorry, I can't accept those." I reply with a smile "You're kidding."
Her terse reply . . . "No. Sorry." I am confused.
"Why?" I ask.
"Well, the tags aren't attached," she says.
"So . . . ?" I say.
"We can't resell the clothes without the tags attached," she responds without a moment's pause.
Mind you, EVERY store in the world allows you to return clothes if you have a receipt. So, I ask to talk to the the store manager. The store manager (all 23 years of him) comes over and pretty much tells me I am fucked. More specifically, the excuse is that once a tag comes off the clothes, the store can no longer sell the item.
WHAT?? Isn't that the entire purpose of having a tag machine in the back of the store? You know, to replace the tags??
I simply refused towalk out of the store with a $50 pair of shorts I didn't like. So, I snap. I walk over to the jeans. Look at the manager, smile and rip a price tag off a pair of jeans. As I drop it on the floor, I comment, "Whoops, there goes a one pair of jeans you will NEVER be able to sell." I grab another pair of jeans. Riiippppp, off goes price tag number two. "There goes another pair of jeans you will NEVER be able to sell."
"Will you take a store credit?" the manager asks. Yep. I grab a couple of shirts and make the exchange. He then asks "can I help you find anything else today?" Really??
Anyways, fuck Guess and there stupid return policies!
Zeus out.

This'n'That
********NOTE: all images will be sent to you to upload bc my computer won't upload them!!!!*********
First off, I MUST respond to Zeus' last post...specifically because I was in shock when I misread his 12:40 appointment as "meditation" instead of "mediation"...Wow, did THAT make me laugh. At first I was thinking, wow, he actually SCHEDULES time for meditation. Who knew??? hahahaha.
Now, on to my blog of many random thoughts attempting to recap my crazy past 4 days or so. It all started off...
1. DISNEY! Because Disney is SO awesome, and I am awesome (clearly), Disney and myself are a perfect fit. Per recommendation by Zeus, I made sure to ride Tower of Terror TWICE! The first time I pretty much rode it cannonball style...ie put myself in the smallest and tightest ball possible, and made sure not to open my eyes even for a second. After the ride everyone told me it is MUCH less scary if you keep your eyes open. Ummm...thanks for telling me AFTER the ride! So, next time we rode, at night, I made sure to keep my eyes open....the good news, I got to see the fireworks. The bad news, they were all LYING b/c it was freaking scary! Below is my evidence:
2. RACE! Yep, that's right, after a looooooong night of Disney, I topped off the night with a morning trail race in San Clemente. I decided last minute to do this 10k as a little prep before next weekends mile high death race. Not to brag, but I guess I will...the race went extremely well. I felt very good and was quite excited with how I did. The race was super small so my place doesn't really matter...but just to brag (b/c it was actually QUITE humorous) I beat the guys. hahahahaha....yep, that's right. The guys were idiots and went out too fast, plus they really weren't that fast, so I caught them all. I came out a winner without a single snake bite! (which actually was a concern of mine after they gave us a lesson prerace of what to do when you run into a snake!!!)
3. YOGA!!!! So Jocy came into town just for 2 days and so I thought I would surprise her with a private yoga session with Shane. We both think he is totally dreamy...hehe. Our yoga session was absolutely amazing...especially THE breath. Actually it really wasn't even about that...and I would blab on about it, although I know it would bore Zeus to death and we wouldn't want that. Luckily I have a picture which was pretty much the high point of my life :)
4. And for all ups...there is always a down...My student showed up totally high yesterday to tutoring. I felt so bad. Honestly, I was totally torn as to what to do. I attempted to confront her, saying, "It seems like you are REALLY "tired", is there something you need to tell me? or do you want to finish this another day?" She responded with "I am NOT high!!!" Wow, I was in shock. I went to the restroom to collect myself and figure out what the heck to do. I attempted to talk to her...but nothing really went anywhere. She literally couldn't even hold her freaking pencil!!! So, long story short, I left, and felt completely awful and guilty. I felt so incredibly bad and still feel like I did the wrong thing. Luckily I saw Shane today and yoga made everything better!!!

The Exciting Life of a San Diego Attorney
Hmmmm.... Since my fellow blogger isn't, you know.... BLOGGING, I thought I would take a moment to add some content to the site.
I was just looking at my schedule for tomorrow and struck by its absurdity:
9:00 a.m. - Start homeowner deposition (scheduled to last 4 hours) for the Davidson case.
10:00 a.m. - Teleconference with discovery referee (scheduled to last 1 hour) for the Saratoga case.
11:00 a.m. - Teleconference with co-counsel and expert witnesses (scheduled to last 1 hour) for the Saratoga case.
12:40 p.m. - Mediation (4 hours) for the Davidson case.
1:30 p.m. - Teleconference with client (1 hour) for Streamline case.
3:00 p.m. - Teleconference with different client (1 hour) for Alfa case.
4:00 p.m. - Meeting with partner to discuss deposition on Wednesday for Ocean View case.
That is all. Just a quick boring post. A more entertaining post in the future...

Race Blog
Yesterday I "laced them up" and re-entered the world of competitive racing. Some might say that makes me a professional racer. Others might say that makes me courageous. However, I think everyone can agree that I am AWESOME! Why? You're kidding right? Have you taken a look at me in my racing apparel?
Anyways, I took 2nd. Why not first? Because sometimes, I don't want to be too awesome. Sometimes, I want to let the little people sip from the bottle of victory that I have so selfishly consumed in the past.
In discussing my race, I thought I would take a new balanced approach. A pros and cons list. That way while I will acknowledge my epicness, I will also acknowledge my shortcomings... the way any true champion would.
My time of 27:08
Pro: It is the hardest and fastest I have run in over a year.
Con: I was so fast that I didn't give the people behind me a chance to watch me run.
The race was over 80 degrees:
Pro: It was a challenging race that allowed me to really test myself.
Con: If it had been hotter, I could have sweated more and allowed more ladies the chance to view my glistening muscles.
There were only 100 people in the race:
Pro: It allowed me a chance to run my first race without much pressure.
Con: The 99 other people present only had 98 other people to talk to about how great I am.
I took 2nd place:
Pro: It was nice to finish so high with such poor fitness.
Con: The person who beat me, just had the greatest moment of his life, it is all downhill from here.
All in all, it was a good day. The next race is a few weeks away. We shall see how that goes.
Zeus out.

No Longer a Hipster Blog cont.
First things first...why am I the one blogging?!?!?!!? You still have not blogged! Zeus = Failure! Yep, I said that! Wow, I'm mean!
Anyhoo, since my previous blog apparently didn't send in full, I must tell everyone about all the exciting places I went...
Anyhoo, since my previous blog apparently didn't send in full, I must tell everyone about all the exciting places I went...
The LAB, the anti mall, sounded cool at the time...but then I quickly realized after visiting, "Wait, I LOVE the mall....or Nordstroms at least!" Why would I ever go to an anti mall? Anyhoo, as interesting as it was, their lack of AC thoroughly destroyed any shopping mojo I had.
Next stop...
Next stop...
Yep! That's right! I saw this and was in heaven! Oh how I love the fair!!!!!! Not too sure ab out the quote they have on the window though....
And last, instead of taking pics of me running....I have decided I will just photo my food. For some reason I find this completely engaging. I actually probably have about 200 pics on my phone of food...which now that I think of it, may seem kinda scary....hmm, maybe I need to break this habit. Yikes!

K Zeus, as of now, your all talk...Tomorrow is your big chance to prove your greatness against the other 5 people racing!
A Blog of Serious Concerns
Time for an intervention...
Moonbeam, you are not a hipster. Gypsy? Perhaps. Hipster? No Chance. The thing that makes Moonbeam so lovely is her kind, caring, and joyous attitude. Very clean hippie-ish. On the other hand, what make hipsters such annoying wannabes is that they are simply joyless annoying wannabes. With hipsters everything is ironic, specifically their attire.
Let's take a look at the standard hipster uniform:
Now I know what you are thinking, that is a stereotype. No one actually dresses that way. Well, I present Exhibit A:
Now granted some hipster chips can be pretty hot. However, the track marks on their arms and the cut marks on their legs minimize their typical slutty attire.
Oh yeah, as a general rule, hipsters must smoke - cigs always self rolled. So, Moonbeam is DEFINITELY not a hipster. This intervention has been completed.

Hippy turned HIPPSTER!!!
Yep, that's right, I once was a hippy, and now I'm just a HIPPSTER...or is it HIPSTER? hmmmm, I don't actually even know what a hipster even IS, but it's GOT TO BE BETTER than a hippy right? Sp, on to today's epic blog of many super random thoughts....
1. Yesterday I was in the as Zeus would say, "oddest" moods. It was not that I just cranky, I was WAYYYYY beyond cranky. Nothing made me happy, not even the COMMUNE! By the pm, I was just a walking witch! It was scary...I was even scared of myself! YIKES!!!! That said, I woke up today feeling super pissed off (about nothing) which was definitely NOT the mood to have while tracking it up...which leads to....
2. This am I TOTALLY rocked it!!! Yep, despite a slow start and still feeling witch-like, Moonbeam came alive for a mini speedworkout. If I must say so, it was amazing.
3. This past weekend was quite an eye opener. I realized I shouldn't pigeon-hole myself into the hippy arena...in fact, I realized I MAY also be a...hipster...AND a gyspy. This is evidenced by my many trips here:

Both the Gypsy Den and The Lab, the anti mall, just made me feel right at home. Actually, that's not true...they didn't have AC and I felt absolutely disgusting. Maybe that's why I was so pissed off yesterday...I was still just hot from Saturday!!!
Ok, more later! I'm off to yoga size!!!!

Music Blog!
Well Moonbeam, now you gone and done it! By bringing up music, it immediately caused me to want to blog about my favorite running songs. Yes, these are songs that should be included on every iPod. See kick back, get ready to check out a couple of songs and my thoughts why they should be a part of every runners iPod.
The Killers - All These Things I've Done:
I have easily listened to this song over one thousand times and every time it comes on to my iPod I am still as excited as the first time I heard it. First, the passion in his voice. That is a given. Next, the way the song builds through the chorus of "I've got soul, but I am not a soldier." It just keeps building and building which results in a slight rush. Pretty awesome, but then, at the end, when his voice cracks with "over and end, last call for sin, when everyone's lost, the battle is won with all these things that I've done"... well it usually results in me running as hard as I can. Just a great song.
The Toadies - Tyler:
Okay, this a song that we will go ahead and ignore the actual lyrics for obvious reasons. However, once again, the pace of this song is what makes it so amazing. The bass, drums, and vocals are all pretty powerful. However, the song really is enjoyable at the 1:40 mark where the music mellows, then slowly starts to build for about 50 seconds until it takes off through the last two minutes. Hmmm... this is actually a hard one to put into words accurately. Maybe I just have a special place in my heart for this song from my Dallas days.
Kerli - Fragile:
This song would be amazing due to her voice alone. However, the music has a very dark, lost feel to it that is easy to get lost in. The lyrics also tell a story of sadness and pain that is captivating. All of this results, not in an uplifting "lets go for a run" song, but four minutes that of introspection.
Okay, that is enough for now. Hopefully, if you don't know the songs, you will take a few minutes to listen to them and see if they would make a good addition to your iPod.
Zeus out.
